hexedit software package provides view and edit files in hexadecimal or in ASCII, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install hexedit
hexedit is installed in your system.
Make ensure the hexedit package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep hexedit *
You will get with hexedit package name, version, architecture and description in a table
